Moss Irish Flakes (Dried Sea Moss – Chondrus crispus) - Traditionally Used in Coastal and Caribbean Herbalism for Mineral Support and Culinary Thickening
Irish Moss — also known as Chondrus crispus — is a red sea vegetable traditionally harvested from the rocky coasts of the North Atlantic. Our Dried Irish Moss Flakes are wildcrafted and gently dried to preserve their natural color, texture, and rich mineral content.
Used in both Caribbean herbal traditions and European coastal folk practices, Irish moss is valued for its naturally occurring iodine, calcium, and trace minerals, and is commonly used to make nourishing gels, broths, and thickening agents in plant-based recipes.
Key Benefits • Traditionally used to support natural mineral replenishment • Included in Caribbean and European food-based herbalism for seasonal nourishment • Naturally rich in iodine, calcium, magnesium, and mucilaginous compounds • Used to create plant-based gels, soups, and creamy textures in wellness cooking
How to Use Rinse thoroughly and soak in cold water for 6–12 hours. Blend soaked moss with water to create a gel. Add 1–2 tbsp of the gel to smoothies, teas, soups, or desserts for texture and nourishment.
Suggested Use For culinary and food-based wellness use. Due to iodine content, consult a qualified practitioner if pregnant, breastfeeding, or managing a thyroid condition. For adult use only. Do not consume raw without soaking and rinsing.
